Clean, American Energy

The outdated laws that govern our electricity grid are standing in the way of America’s energy and environmental goals. These goals – addressing climate change and achieving energy security – rely on the rapid development and deployment of domestic renewable energy like wind and solar power. These energy sources have enormous potential for growth, but this potential will only be realized with a modernized transmission grid.

Right now, there are no transmission lines that connect the places where the wind blows hardest and the sun shines the most to the homes and businesses that need energy. If lawmakers are serious about making renewable resources available, reducing our dependence on foreign oil, meeting renewable energy standards, and addressing climate change and other environmental challenges, they need to start by modernizing the rules that govern the grid.
