Facilitating Clean & Renewable Energy

Across America, many consumers and businesses want to use more clean and renewable energy sources. To make that possible, we must do more than simply make wind turbines and solar panels.

An upgraded, expanded electric grid can help unlock our country’s abundant renewable energy in two ways. First, it takes high-voltage transmission lines to move power (often across long distances) from where it’s generated on wind and solar farms to cities and towns where’s it needed. Second, the transmission grid provides crucial back-up when the wind doesn’t blow and the sun doesn’t shine (and thus key renewable energy sources aren’t available).

Because typical transmission projects are both lengthy and complex, upgraded and new lines must be planned now to support renewable energy projects in the future.
